     In 2010,  Coylton Parish Church,  Drongan : Schaw Kirk,  Dalmellington and  Bellsbank Churches raised over £8,000  for the Smiles Foundation.
  Among the many projects that our group, visiting Romania at that time, were involved in was painting a container and paying £3,000 to have it converted into a home.
In October 2011 the Whiteman family returned to Romania to visit the projects we had funded in 2010.

  On Tuesday morning we picked up the young couple called Csaba and Eva Kovari from their shack on the city  tip and took them to their new home.   The look of joy on their faces will stay with us for a long time.  The Container will provide a warm comfortable home for the young couple and their new-born baby boy named Csabi.
All this has been made possible thanks to the generosity of the good folk of South and East Ayrshire.
  'Thankyou'  is warmly expressed by Csaba  and Eva.
 There were many other good news stories;
   The abandoned Baby we sponsored  last year has now been adopted by a member of the Smiles team and her husband.
   Danny,  the boy in the children’s home has now been returned to a member of his family and he is doing well at school.
   The Charity shop set up at Salonta is bringing in an income of £2,000 per month for Smiles. Three more shops are planned.
   Last year we worked very hard on the farm at Apersel and we were amazed to discover that the harvest has been sold for  over £25,000.

   We had decided not to fund raise this year, however we were given several donations before we left for Romania amounting to a very generous  £700.
   With the donations we bought a stove for Eva and Ciobis new home and bought stoves for their neighbours at a cost of £390.
   We paid for a family to have their roof repaired before the winter at a cost of £100.
   We helped buy fixtures and fittings for the new charity shops  £100
   And we donated £150 to the homeless project.
   Thank you to all who gave so generously
